So I am in the middle of writing a persuasive paper in my English class that lists out some ways that people can start "going green". I have to wonder while writing this paper. Why aren't more people doing these things? Don't they realize the personal and global benefits to all of these options? I think some things are going to take some time to set in and have people adopt. Like the reusing of Ziploc style bags. Most people are becoming to "germ-a-phobic" to adopt such a habit now-a-days. But when you really think about it, don't we reuse our dishes after washing them? What is the difference with a piece of plastic?
I would really like to get into the alternative energy thing, but where I live I'm not allowed to have a wind turbine, and we have more important things in our lives to throw our money at right now, that we can't afford any solar panels. Although, I have thought about pitching some kind of deal to my neighborhood, about going in together on a wind-turbine for the community. This would, in theory, eliminate or greatly reduce all of our electric bills. Although, I would have to throw in some more stipulations to the agreement if it were to ever go through. For instance, I don't want someone thinking that they can use all of the electricity that they want now. So I would have to implement some kind of audit to make sure that people are upgrading everything to energy-star products and that they aren't abusing the over-all neighborhoods kindness.
Anyone interested in starting a "Green Choices" business with me? Or anyone interested in contracting my current company for an energy audit? Please feel free to contact me at chad.ries@gmail.com
